Information:
Zanesville & Western's 3187, was originally built for use by the C & O Railroad, by International Car of Kenton, Ohio. The 3100 series steel cabooses was a first for C & O. This car was at its peak of technology at the time. Equipped with roller bearing trucks and generator along with fully welded body this series changed cabooses forever. The 3187 was shipped new for use to Silver Grove, Kentucky. This caboose was upgraded to electronic marker lights and had a stationary toilet installed in 1979. This caboose was acquired by a local car dealership and donated to The Buckeye Central in 1991. The caboose has since been used as a rolling office for the new railroad. ZWSR has plans to bring this caboose into normal passenger service on the Glass Rock Spur. This caboose has an interesting history. We are proud to own this piece of history in almost perfect condition.
