All general and associate members are welcome to fill
internal positions (elected positions may require general memberships only).
Although all positions are volunteers based, you will receive rewards for
your time. Every approved hour you spend in railroad related
activities earns you discounts on excursions and merchandise.
The time
you spend in these volunteer positions will also provide you valuable
experience that can be placed on job applications and resumes.
You
will be able to grow in your leadership or technical skills.
And
finally, you will feel good that you are helping the volunteers,
organization, and local community grow and prosper.

Volunteer |

No experience needed!
Volunteers are needed to help execute the goals
of the organization.
As a regular volunteer, you may be doing
track maintenance, restoring rolling stock, building facilities,
running equipment, or even driving the train.
Volunteers are
the most important people in or organization - they are the ones who
not only set the tone of the organization, but also get the work
done.

Director of Operation |

The Director of Operations, a position elected
by the Board of Directors, is a key position in the customer facing
side of the organization.
Any individual expressing interest
in this position must be a good project manager, possess excellent leadership skills, be able to organize volunteer activities, and
understand key points to ensuring customers enjoy themselves.
Specific responsible include:
- Submitting
Accident and Injury reports to the Secretaryas necessary.
- Provide
oversight and guidance to all volunteers who work on the train
or in the station during excursions and rides (train and station
operations)
- Provide
safety and customer service training for all employees who work
with the public or around the train.
- Ensure
customers are taken care of, customer complaints are handled
quickly, and comment cards are reviewed as needed.
- Scheduling
volunteers for excursion weekends.
- Ensuring
concession stands are appropriately stocked and inventoried.
- Scheduling
work weekends as necessary through the Vice President.

Volunteer Coordinator |
Open to all members |
Responsible for leading the effort to find, welcome,
and energize new volunteers.
The volunteer coordinator should
be creative, outgoing, and charismatic. Although open to any member,
the volunteer coordinator should be in central Ohio. Specific
responsibilities include:
- Plan, organize, and execute volunteer drives
- Assist in planning advertising
and activities for the organization as they relate to new
members
- Follow up with the Secretary
and Treasurer to ensure new members have paid their dues and
received their welcome packets.
- Be the primary point of
communication for new member questions during their first 90
days.

Secretary |

The secretary position is not your average position,
but requires dedication, project management skills, and must be a
team player. Specific responsibilities include:
- Taking
detailed notes at all meetings (not simply meeting minutes)
- Organizing
and sending the notes out to each member within 10 days of every
meeting
- Ensuring all
meeting minutes are provided to the webmaster for inclusion on
the webpage within 10 days
- Organizing
and sending the email newsletter at the end of every other month
starting in January
- Updating the
organizational documents when the updates have been approved
through the appropriate means and then ensuring the documents
are uploaded to the web within 30 days of the change
- Organizing
and filing titles and bills of sale
- Tracking and
submitting FRA reports
- Notarizing
organizational documents as necessary.
- Maintaining
membership records.
- Printing and
sending membership cards within 15 days of receiving notice from
the treasurer of a new or renewed member.
- Ensuring a
welcome pack is sent to each new member.

Website Support |
Open to all members |
The website support person should have a general
understanding of computers, email, and websites. Specific
responsibilities include:
- Update the
website monthly (or more often as needed) with information
provided by others
- Maintain the
email distribution lists
- Design and
and seek approval for major changes

Grant Writer |
Open to all members |
The grant writer will report directly to the Board
of Directors. As the person primarily responsible for grant
funding, this individual will need to seek out opportunities and
request grants. Specific responsibilities include:
- Finding
grant opportunities
- Writing
grant proposals
- Obtaining
grant money for the organization

"ZWSR Railroader" Newsletter Editor |
Open to all members |
The "ZWSR Railroader" newsletter editor should have
a good grasp of the English language, have a good understanding of
computers, and be able to work with any computer program that will
create quality newsletters. Specific responsibilities include:
- Solicit the
organization and leaders for information to be included in the
newsletter
- Edit for
clarity and grammar the stories and sections submitted
- Select
photos and writes sections as appropriate
- Ensure the
newsletter is submitted for approval by the 20th of every other
month
- Send the
newsletter to the appropriate mail lists by the 30th of every
other month
